Dean Dorton Technology Launches Full-Service Cybersecurity Services

Leading the practice is Gui Cozzi, who joins Dean Dorton Technology with more than 20 years of experience in cybersecurity. He has successfully implemented pragmatic and risk-based security programs to meet compliance with organizations’ security requirements. Gui leads a team responsible for delivering enterprise cybersecurity services and personally specializes in information security program development, implementation and assessment.

Prior to joining Dean Dorton, Cozzi served in various information security leadership roles, including implementing the security risk management program for one of the nation’s largest health systems, leading teams of cybersecurity consultants, and serving as chief information security officers for organizations in various industries.

As enterprise cybersecurity awareness continues to evolve, so do the layers of protection any business or nonprofit organization needs. Dean Dorton Launches IGNITE Leadership Conference

IGNITE will be held on July 19-20 in Lexington. Accounting students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through a case study simulation, learn CPA exam tips and tricks, meet Dean Dorton team members, and learn the firm’s services and industry expertise.

Dean Dorton Names New Market Leader

Lexington, Ky.-based Dean Dorton Allen Ford (FY16 net revenue of $27.3 million) named Jim Tencza as Louisville market leader. In this role, Tencza will direct the strategy and operations of Dean Dorton’s Louisville office. He will succeed Gwen Tilton, who has been with the firm for 35 years.

Tencza has 28 years of experience in public accounting and has experience working with companies including SEC-registered, privately-held and nonprofit entities, as well as private equity funded clients in various industries. Tencza is a member of the board of directors and the assurance executive team and leads Dean Dorton’s internal audit and risk advisory practice.

Dean Dorton Welcomes Horn as Associate Director of Tax Services

Lexington, Ky.-based Dean Dorton Allen Ford (FY16 net revenue of $27.3 million) welcomed Erica Horn as an associate director of tax services.

Horn has more than 27 years of experience in Kentucky as an attorney and CPA. She has represented clients regarding nearly all of Kentucky’s taxes and fees including income, sales and use, property and severance taxes. Horn has successfully appealed assessments issued by taxing authorities and pursued refund claims for her clients, saving them millions of dollars in Kentucky taxes.

Dean Dorton Acquires Metro Medical Solutions

Louisville, Ky.-based Dean Dorton Allen Ford (FY16 net revenue of $25.6 million) has expanded its health care services in Kentucky by acquiring Metro Medical Solutions, a long-standing physician billing and credentialing company located in Louisville.

The new physician billing and credentialing services will be combined with Dean Dorton’s existing health care consulting practice and branded as Dean Dorton Healthcare Solutions.

Elizabeth Woodward, director of forensic accounting and litigation support at Lexington, Ky.-based Dean Dorton Allen Ford (FY16 net revenue of $25.6 million), was appointed to serve as a member of the Forensic and Litigation Services Committee for the AICPA.

Woodward has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, specializing in bankruptcy accounting matters, litigation support and forensic accounting services. She has served in several fiduciary roles, including as a chief restructuring officer, receiver and fee examiner.

Woodward is also an experienced expert witness and has testified in multiple courts. Her experience includes testifying for local and regional matters as well as national cases.

Dean Dorton’s litigation support team is the largest in Kentucky with nine full-time experienced professionals in expert witness testimony, bankruptcy accounting and litigation, marital dissolution, fraud investigation, forensic accounting and due diligence procedures.

Dean Dorton recognizes the increase in demand for collaborative cloud-based applications for both business executives and their teams in order to provide financial data more efficiently and effectively. Dean Dorton is one of the first accounting firms in Kentucky to offer a cutting-edge, scalable mobile accounting solution.

Going further, faster is the goal, allowing businesses to automate their core financials and most important processes, mitigating turnover in accounting staff, ambiguous financials, inefficient processes and constantly outgrowing systems resulting in technology upgrade costs. Dean Dorton Foundation Aids Cancer Patients

A Leadership Lexington project that began almost three years ago has come to fruition, in the form of a cancer patient receiving free child care during treatments, thanks to the help of the community and the Dean Dorton Foundation, a foundation created by Lexington, Ky.-based Dean Dorton Allen Ford PLLC (FY15 net revenue of $21.4 million).

Leadership Lexington is a leadership development program sponsored by Commerce Lexington and directed toward individuals who demonstrate leadership qualities. The 2013-2014 Leadership Lexington class worked on multiple projects, including Advance Lexington, Roosevelt Boulevard Community Garden, University You and S.O.S. Cancer Support (S.O.S. stands for supportive oncology services).

Bill Kohm, director of assurance services at Dean Dorton was involved with S.O.S., which partnered with the YMCA of Central Kentucky and a local church to structure a program to provide free child care to the dependents of cancer patients as they go through their cancer journey.

Two children of a recently diagnosed cancer patient started receiving free child care last week through S.O.S. as their mother began her year-long chemotherapy treatment. “With everyone’s hard work and persistence, we have eased some of [the mother’s] burden as she begins her cancer journey,” says Erica Radhakrishnan, a two-time cancer survivor, S.O.S. project team leader, and Distinguished Leader of Leadership Lexington class of 2013-2014. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Dean Dorton Foundation for their support. I am grateful that our community possesses business entities, such as Dean Dorton, that appreciate the value of leadership development and cultivation, as well as a generous spirit that supports opportunities to give back and enhance our city.”
