Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY17 net revenue of $97.6 million) announced that Mike De Laval and Jack Yeager have joined the firm’s Houston office as managing directors in the forensic, litigation and valuation group.

De Laval has provided expert testimony and litigation consulting for the past 15 years across numerous commodity markets including oil and gas, NGL’s / LPG’s, petrochemicals, electricity, agricultural and metals. He has relevant industry experience to provide a thoughtful, real world opinion with regards to matters involving trading, transportation, contractual, asset operation and optimization, and overall portfolio issues. He has been certified as an expert in Hedge Funds, Funds of Funds, and Natural Gas in U.S. District Court, and has broad based experience providing subject matter expertise in litigation consulting and testimony involving white collar crime, government regulatory actions, private litigation and Uncitral Arbitrations.

Yeager has expertise related to commodity and derivative markets (e.g. energy, agriculture, metals, futures and options). He has more than 20 years of practical experience working in and consulting to businesses that regularly engage in commodity or derivative transactions, primarily in the oil, gas and power sectors. He also has nearly 15 years of experience assisting in litigation matters as both a testifying and consulting expert.

Together De Laval and Yeager co-lead Whitley Penn’s Traded Markets practice which provides both business consulting and litigation support services to participants in traded markets.

Effective Jan. 1, Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY16 net revenue of $83.6 million) admitted six to partners: Clint Crane, Camron Harris, Robert Metz, Brett Murphy, Elizabeth Pettijohn and Justin Roberts.

Crane joined the firm in 2016 as a tax senior manager in the Dallas office after holding several leadership roles at other firms. He provides tax consulting services to middle-market clients and is part of the Whitley Penn tax policy committee.

Camron Harris

Camron Harris

Harris joined the Dallas audit department of Whitley Penn in 2004. Since then his career experience has included serving public and private clients in real estate, professional services, manufacturing and distribution, oil and gas, private equity, and employee benefit plans.

Robert Metz

Robert Metz

Metz joined the firm in 2011 as a senior associate in the forensic, litigation and valuation services group. He specializes in valuations of businesses, forensic and fraud investigations, damages and lost profits calculations, and tracing and characterization of assets. Metz has provided expert witness testimony at depositions, hearings, and trials and assisted with numerous settlement negotiations.

Murphy joined the firm in 2014 as an audit manager in the Dallas office and was promoted to senior manager in 2015. Prior to joining Whitley Penn, he was with another local firm serving financial industry clients such as commercial banks, mortgage companies, bank holding companies, and savings and loan associations. Additionally, Murphy has worked with both publicly-traded and privately-held companies, in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail, infrastructure companies and employee benefit plans.

Pettijohn joined the firm in 2013 as a tax senior manager in the Dallas office after serving in several tax leadership roles at other organizations. She has experience in complex tiered structures that include partnerships, C corporations, Sub S corporations, REITs and LLCs. Pettijohn has expanded the firm’s capabilities as it relates to private-equity owned clients, clients with complex flow-through structures, REITs and MLPs.

Roberts joined Whitley Penn in 2006 and has experienced his entire professional career at the firm. Over the last twelve years, he has served in the Dallas audit department and has had extensive experience advising clients on generally-accepted accounting principles, SEC and Sarbanes-Oxley issues. Roberts works with the oil and gas industry as well as serving a variety of public and private companies.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY16 net revenue of $83.6 million) welcomed J.D. Stotts as a new chief information officer.

Stotts has more than 20 years of experience in information security, software development, infrastructure and operations. He will be responsible for Whitley Penn’s entire IT operation and will work closely with the management committee, department leaders, IT council, and WPIT team to develop and implement an IT vision and strategy aligned with the firm’s overall business objectives.

Scarborough Joins Whitley Penn as Tax Partner

Scarborough has more than 16 years of experience providing accounting, tax and financial planning services. His areas of practice include tax compliance, consulting and financial planning for closely held and family-owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and medical and professional services firms.

OverMont Consulting Joins Whitley Penn

Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY15 net revenue of $72.4 million) announces that OverMont Consulting of Houston has joined Whitley Penn.

The move doubles the size of the firm’s forensic, litigation and valuation services group.

The OverMont team delivers financial, accounting, economic and statistical analysis for national and international clients both in and out of the context of high-stakes commercial disputes. OverMont provides economic damages analyses and other litigation support services in a variety of complex commercial disputes, including the areas of intellectual property, breach of contract, business interruption, fraud, and insolvency and bankruptcy, among others.

OverMont’s team includes CPAs, MBAs, and JDs who hold numerous relevant certifications and possess a broad array of experience across many different industries. The OverMont team, led by Walter Bratic, Carmen Eggleston and Justin Blok, is well versed in the litigation and trial process and have often testified as experts in various courts and arbitration panels.

Bratic has extensive business and consulting experience across a broad range of industries. He has been involved in a variety of litigation matters, involving patent, trademark, copyright infringement, theft of trade secrets, breach of contract, tax disputes, breach of fiduciary duty, energy and antitrust matters.

Eggleston has managed numerous valuation, corporate restructuring, litigation and strategic consulting engagements. Her experience includes consulting to both small firms and Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail and service.

Blok has engaged in a variety of litigation matters involving patent, trademark, and copyright infringement, theft of trade secrets, business valuation, business interruption, bankruptcy and fraud.

Boarder joined the firm in 2014 as the managing director of transaction advisory services in the Dallas office. Boarder has more than 18 years of experience assisting private-equity firms and corporate buyers in evaluating potential company merger and acquisition targets. He has managed several hundred engagements with transactions ranging from less than $1 million to over $750 million.

Throughout his career, he has developed a deep understanding of tax matters and has significant experience in tax planning, compliance, and risk management for the U.S. taxation of cross-border transactions. Mitchell has experience working with various types of companies in regard to the U.S. anti-deferral rules, foreign tax credits, sourcing rules, foreign currency and other international tax matters.

Whitley Penn Merges in Hanner & Associates

Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY15 net revenue of $72.4 million) has announced that Hanner & Associates of Bedford, Texas, will join the firm Jan. 1.

Glenn Hanner and Carre Hanner, co-founders of Hanner & Associates, and their team will join the Fort Worth office of Whitley Penn boosting the firm’s presence in the city to approximately 300 employees and more than 400 employees firmwide. This addition will contribute to Whitley Penn’s growth and positioning as one of the top accounting firms in the region, the firm announced.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY15 net revenue of $72.4 million) announces that Dallas-based Wagner Eubank & Nichols, which has an office in Austin, Texas, will join Whitley Penn on Jan. 1.

Founded in 2001 by the merger of two practices, Wagner Eubank & Nichols provides assurance, tax, financial accounting and consulting services to clients throughout Texas and the surrounding states in industries that include real estate, oil and gas, manufacturing and distribution, family offices, hedge funds and employee benefit plans.

Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY15 net revenue of $72.4 million) announced that Troy Ashby has joined the firm as business development director and will be based in the firm’s Dallas office.

Ashby has more than 15 years of experience in the accounting industry. He is the former managing director for Kforce’s Dallas and Fort Worth offices, where he focused primarily on providing accounting and finance staffing services. He also previously worked in public accounting at Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen.

In his role with the firm, Ashby will collaborate with the partners to establish business development strategy and will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
