Krouse is a partner in the tax department in Shelton, Conn. He joined the firm in 2017 from Grant Thornton, where he served as tax director. Krouse has more than 20 years of experience, serving clients in multiple industries, including privately held businesses, high-net-worth individuals and family offices. Krouse is well versed in assisting clients with tax controversies, specialized transactions and estate, gifts and charitable wealth planning.

BlumShapiro Acquires Premier Accounting Group

Bluhm also has experience with audits and providing consulting services to businesses and their owners on financial and general business, buy and sell consulting, and tax planning.

Ernest has more than 12 years of experience providing accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services to privately held businesses in industries such as dealerships, manufacturing, distribution and retail. He also provides these services to non-profit organizations, including educational institutions, membership organizations, associations, and arts and cultural organizations.

Fontes has more than 13 years of public accounting experience providing tax, assurance and consulting services to clients in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, gaming and lottery, real estate, and jewelry and precious metals. He directs and performs specialized engagements for clients such as litigation support, financial projections, forensic analysis and various agreed-upon procedures projects.

Randhawa will be leading the firm’s forensic accounting and bankruptcy practices. She has extensive training in forensic accounting, litigation support and bankruptcy, and specializes in assisting counsel in complex fraud investigations, tracing and identifying fraudulent transactions and providing expert testimony. Her areas of expertise include marital and business dissolutions, shareholder and business disputes, embezzlements and bankruptcy.

BlumShapiro Adds Four New Employees

West Hartford, Conn.-based BlumShapiro (FY16 net revenue of $76.5 million) welcomes William Tarzia, Carol Seto and Keith Shaffer to their Newton, Mass., office. Michael Barrows joins the Cranston, R.I., office. All four come to BlumShapiro from Chicago-based Grant Thornton (FY16 net revenue of $1.7 billion).

Tarzia joins BlumShapiro as an audit partner. He has 20 years of experience in public accounting working with public and private entities. He most recently served as partner, audit services practice, at Grant Thornton. Tarzia has experience in the manufacturing, technology, medical devices and software industries.

Seto joins BlumShapiro as a tax director. She has more than 23 years of accounting experience, including the last five years as a tax director in Grant Thornton’s private wealth services practice. Throughout her public accounting career, Seto has managed the tax consulting and compliance services of clients in various industries including professional services, construction and real estate development, residential and commercial real estate investment joint ventures, financial services and high-net-worth individuals.

Shaffer also joins BlumShapiro as a tax director. He has more than 30 years of experience and most recently worked for Grant Thornton as a managing director of their mergers and acquisitions tax services in the Boston office. Shaffer has experience in corporate taxation and reviewing the tax postures of large multinational companies and then implementing high value tax planning strategies that have a positive impact on the effective tax rate, cash flow management and shareholder value. He has experience in business acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and due diligence tax issues, as well as income tax accounting.

Barrows joins BlumShapiro as an audit manager. He most recently worked in the same capacity at Grant Thornton. Prior to that, he held the position of assurance associate at CCR of Wakefield, Mass.

Based in Boston, Buccigross is a partner in BlumShapiro’s accounting and auditing department. His areas of expertise include construction, manufacturing, real estate, non-profit organizations and technology.

McAssey is a partner in BlumShapiro’s accounting and auditing department in Cranston, R.I. He joined the firm in 2013 through a merger with Sullivan & Company. Having more than 25 years of public accounting experience, McAssey is well versed in performing financial statement audits as well as single audits for the firm’s non-profit and health care clients. McAssey is also a member of the firm’s employee benefit assurance services group and has extensive experience in auditing and consulting of defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including 401(k), 403(b) and other retirement and pension plan compliance audits.

Veneziano is a partner in the tax compliance department in BlumShapiro’s West Hartford, Conn., office. Veneziano has a wide range of experience in tax compliance, consulting and planning for privately held businesses and their owners. He has provided tax services to clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing/distribution, retail and professional services. He joined BlumShapiro in 2013 from CohnReznick, where he served as a tax manager. Veneziano is actively involved in the recruiting process at BlumShapiro and frequently participates in recruiting functions.

BlumShapiro Names MP of Massachusetts Offices

In his new role, Renstrom will oversee BlumShapiro operations in Boston, Newton and Quincy, Mass. In addition, Renstrom will continue his responsibilities as MP of BlumShapiro Consulting.

“Brian has been instrumental to the growth and success of our firm since he joined us as partner in charge of consulting in 2004,” says Joseph A. Kask, CEO of BlumShapiro. “During his tenure he has built our consulting practice to represent a significant strategic and economic asset to our overall business while also providing his guidance and thought leadership through his service on our executive committee for three terms. Renstrom began his career in Connecticut with Andersen Consulting in 1982 and had a long tenure there as a partner, leading Andersen’s highly successful middle-market consulting practice in the Northeast. Subsequently, he led PricewaterhouseCooper’s Northeast Region Middle-Market Business Advisory Services practice before he joined BlumShapiro in 2004.

Osmolowski will provide accounting, business consulting and tax services to a broad range of BlumShapiro clients. His focus will be in tax planning for corporations, partnerships and individuals. He has consulted with numerous clients regarding business organization and structure, including the tax consequences of business acquisitions, reorganizations and liquidations.

Osmolowski comes to BlumShapiro from Grant Thornton, where he served as a tax services partner in Grant Thornton’s technology industry practice within the New York and New England markets.

Osmolowski has provided tax, accounting and consulting services to clients in a variety of industries, including technology, life sciences, manufacturing, professional services, automobile dealerships, pharmaceutical, retail industries and distribution. He has more than 26 years of experience assisting clients in identifying, evaluating and implementing tax planning strategies that result in significant tax and cash flow savings.

BlumShapiro Admits Five to Partnership Ranks

West Hartford, Conn.-based BlumShapiro (FY14 net revenue of $68.5 million) has elected five new partners: Thomas Dearnley, James Harper, Jennifer P. Hogencamp, William F. Murray and Ronald W. Nossek.

As a partner in BlumShapiro’s accounting and auditing department, based in Quincy, Mass., Dearnley has more than 12 years of accounting experience. He specializes in audits of privately held businesses in construction, manufacturing, distribution, technology and professional services, as well as construction claims and contract audits.

As a partner in BlumShapiro’s software and business process outsourcing (BPO) consulting group in West Hartford, Conn., Harper manages the BPO services platform, which includes performing all accounting and back office transaction services for both start-up and mature organizations in all industries, including fractional CFO and controller services. In addition, he oversees and provides consulting expertise such as CFO advisory, process improvement and reengineering, business enterprise review, software selection and performance management.

Based in Providence, R.I., Hogencamp leads the firm’s hospitality services group. She has more than 15 years of public accounting experience and is a member of BlumShapiro’s accounting and auditing department. She provides audit services to a variety of clients, including those in the hospitality, technology, education and manufacturing and distribution industries.

As a partner with BlumShapiro’s litigation services and business valuation group in West Hartford, Conn., Murray has more than 15 years of experience in business valuation, economic damages and forensic investigations. He provides attorneys, high-wealth individuals, privately held companies and business owners with valuation services for trust and estate planning, gifting, shareholder disputes, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, taxation and matrimonial dissolutions. He also assists attorneys in the calculation of economic damages in contract disputes and intellectual property litigation.

Nossek is a proven expert in government accounting, with special focus in audits of government entities. In addition, Nossek has significant experience in the ever-changing regulations applied to governmental accounting.

Rossitto, a 23-year veteran of BlumShapiro, has served as partner in the group, performing a wide variety of significant audit engagements, including financial and compliance audits of government and quasi-government engagements.

Rossitto has over 20 years of experience in government accounting and auditing, and has played an instrumental role in obtaining and maintaining the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for her clients.
