Schneider & Associates Joins Citrin Cooperman

New York-based Citrin Cooperman (FY16 net revenue of $233 million) acquired Schneider & Associates of Bethesda, Md., effective Jan. 1.

Schneider & Associates has been providing tax planning and tax for more than 30 years. Sandra Schneider, along with director Julie Schoen, focus on tax and estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and their families. The group’s clients include law firm partners, business executives, multi-generational families and government employees.

Citrin Cooperman Expands Automotive Practice with the Joining of Kera & Company

New York-based Citrin Cooperman (FY16 net revenue of $233 million) has acquired Kera & Company of Tarrytown, N.Y., which includes Ellen Kera and seven professional staff.

Kera will be admitted as a partner and co-leader of the firm’s automotive dealerships practice. She and her staff will be based out of the Westchester office in White Plains, N.Y.

“The firm’s auto dealership practice has grown significantly over the years, and Ellen and her team will be a tremendous asset to existing clients and to our efforts to continue to grow as an industry leader,” says Wilfredo Fernandez, partner and co-leader of the automotive dealerships practice.

Kera has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting. Her main focus is in the automotive industry including consulting on complex tax matters and helping clients implement best practices.

Reyes is based out of the firm’s New York office. He has extensive experience in the financial services space. He has advised broker dealer and asset management clients on accounting, regulatory and internal control matters. He has worked with large banking clients on emerging risk and control best practices. In addition, Reyes is knowledgeable of the valuation issues impacting private equity and venture capital clients.

As part of the expansion, Steve Ronan was admitted as a principal and practice leader of this initiative. The strategy and business transformation service line was formed to help clients develop and implement strategies, tailored to their industry and economics, which will improve process and profitability, create scalable businesses, and address business challenges.

Through the services of the SBT group, Citrin Cooperman clients will receive assistance with assessing critical aspects of their business, develop alternate strategies and vision, and develop, implement and monitor operational road maps to help achieve business and financial objectives. The SBT team will provide clients with expertise in strategic planning, process improvement, talent management and technology utilization.

As active members of the International Franchise Association, Citrin Cooperman’s franchise practice works with franchisors, multi-unit franchisees and private equity firms in many key niche areas, including restaurants, QSRs, fitness centers, entertainment services, educational service and junk removal companies.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Michael for over 10 years and he has proven himself as an ambassador and resource to the franchise community – domestically, internationally and operationally,” says Aaron Chaitovsky, the partner who leads the practice.

A member of the firm’s partnership for 21 years, Bublé will be responsible for ensuring that tax processes and procedures remain consistent throughout Citrin Cooperman’s 10 U.S. locations in addition to overseeing risk, quality control, education, internal and external best practices, and communications within the firm and to clients.

Bublé will also focus on developing strategy to expand services lines for high-net-worth individuals, partnership, C-corporation and S-corporation clients, in addition to elevating the Citrin Cooperman brand by developing thought leadership and collaborating with the firm’s marketing and sales programs.

They bring extensive experience providing audit, accounting and tax compliance and consulting services to clients in the government contracting space and will advise a diverse array of businesses across the country, including technology, communications, defense, security, intelligence, and professional services companies.

Prior to joining Citrin Cooperman, Howard and Johnson served as principals in an accounting firm based in the Washington D.C. metro area. Howard was responsible for the review of federal and multi-state tax returns, as well as tax planning strategies for a variety of domestic and international clients, including government contractors, professional service firms, technology companies, and private equity firms.

The firm will offer a variety of technical services, continuing professional education, and soft skills training to CPA firms to help them maintain clients, grow connections and improve overall profitability.

LGC+D’s 60 firm members, including partners, professionals and support staff joined the firm, recently ranked the 21st largest accounting firm in the United States by INSIDE Public Accounting. This marks Citrin Cooperman’s third new office in the New England region for the year.
