EFPR Group Continues to Expand in Buffalo, N.Y.

Rochester, N.Y.-based EFPR Group (FY17 net revenue of $25.4 million) is merging in the accounting practice of Nowicki & Company of West Seneca, N.Y., into its Williamsville, N.Y., office.

The merger, effective Nov. 1, is expected to bring benefits to the clients and employees of both organizations and strengthen the business services EFPR Group now provides to its client base of more than 10,000.

“Our decision to unite with the West Seneca practice was based on the outstanding quality and service Ray Nowicki has provided to clients for over 30 years,” says James I. Marasco, EFPR Group MP. “The Nowicki & Company reputation for providing extraordinary tax planning, preparation and consulting is consistent with our mission to help clients make intelligent and informed financial decisions.”

He adds that the firm is considering additional mergers and acquisitions in upstate New York.

Raymond Nowicki, Laura Geiger and Paul Kiel will join EFPR Group as partners and will be responsible for client relations, new business development and growing the commercial services practice. Additional staff members will also join as part of this transition.

EFPR Group Joins CPAmerica

Rochester, N.Y.-based EFPR Group (FY17 net revenue of $25.4 million) has joined the accounting association CPAmerica, which has welcomed seven firms this year.

EFPR Group has three offices in New York in Rochester, Buffalo and Corning, and one in Jupiter, Fla. The firm’s services include tax planning and preparation, international business consulting, attest and compliance services, forensic accounting and litigation services, business valuation and M&A support, government and nonprofit services, client accounting and finance outsourcing, and IT/cybersecurity services.

Rochester, N.Y.-based EFPR Group (FY17 net revenue of $25.4 million) announced four professionals with the firm have been admitted to the partnership group: Richele Emich-Sharn, Thomas Niles, Maureen Rutecki and David Urban.

Emich-Sharn is part of EFPR Group’s tax and business services department. She has been with the firm for 20 years and works extensively with the international taxation side of the practice. She works with clients in the U.S. and abroad to assist them with the IRS streamlined procedures process to bring individuals into compliance. She also assists with expatriate and inpatriate returns, hypothetical tax calculations, equalization calculations, totalization certificate planning and application, and other aspects of international taxation including personal 1040’s, tax planning, preparation and advice.

Niles and Rutecki are both part of StoneBridge Business Partners, an affiliated consulting company, and members of EFPR Group’s business valuation forensic and litigation services group.

Niles has more than 15 years of public accounting and compliance auditing experience and travels regularly throughout the country conducting audits. His current focus is in the health care field, specifically distribution, manufacturing and group purchasing audits. He has also assisted on a number of engagements related to litigation, forensic and fraud. He manages client relationships in the franchise, governmental and health care fields.

Rutecki specializes in valuation, litigation and consulting services. She has significant health care industry experience, including physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, home health care agencies and dental practices, among others. She also has significant real estate company industry experience, including complex family entities, and also serves on the AICPA’s business valuation committee.

David Urban

David Urban

Urban is part of EFPR Group’s attest department. He is responsible for providing audit, accounting and consulting services for numerous nonprofit organizations. He has more than 30 years of public accounting experience. His clients have included cultural organizations, health and human service agencies, Article 28 health clinics, non-profit medical practices, religious entities, HUD-insured projects and various federal, state and local governmental entities.

EFPR Group Hires New Partner for Tax and Business Services Division

Rochester, N.Y.-based EFPR Group (FY17 net revenue of $25.4 million) has announced that Norman A. Provvidenza has been hired as a new partner in the tax and business services division.

Provvidenza has more than 25 years of tax and attest experience working with owners and management of closely held businesses across upstate New York, performing all levels of financial statement attestation engagements as well as business and individual tax planning and compliance services. He has expertise in construction, manufacturing, agribusiness, real estate, retail and medical professionals. He also works closely with high-wealth individuals on tax and estate planning.

“Norm’s experience and knowledge in the tax and business consulting area will reinforce the ongoing success of the firm and support the growth of our commercial services practice,” says Jim Marasco, MP of EFPR Group.

Provvidenza is a professional speaker and adjunct instructor for Cornell University’s Income Tax Schools. For the past nine years, he has also worked as a technical writer and editor for the Land Grant Tax Education Foundation.

He will support the commercial tax consulting practice area from the firm’s office in Buffalo, N.Y.

EFPR Group Acquires Fecteau

Rochester, N.Y.-based EFPR Group PLLC (FY16 net revenue of $25.9 million) acquired Fecteau PLLC of Albany, N.Y.

Julie Cohen will be the MP of the Albany office and will be a partner in the firm’s attest department. She has more than 25 years of public accounting experience and has been with Fecteau for the last 18 years.

Kelly Osborn will be a partner in the tax and business services department. She has more than 24 years of public accounting experience and has been with Fecteau for the last three years.

EFPR Group Makes First Acquisition in Florida

Rochester, N.Y.-based EFPR Group has announced the acquisition of its first accounting practice in Florida, the firm of S. Barrie Godown, Certified Public Accountants of Jupiter, Fla. The transaction is effective Jan. 1.

The acquisition fits with the EFPR Group’s plan for growth outside upstate New York. This transaction will also open the Florida market to the accounting, consulting and reputation management services EFPR Group provides to its 8,500 clients.
