Squar Milner Acquires Accounting Practice of Arnold Zippel

Irvine, Calif.-based Squar Milner LLP (FY18 net revenue of $98.2 million) announces that on Jan. 1 it is merging in the accounting practice of Arnold Zippel, who operates a law and accounting firm in San Francisco.

Both practices focus on estates and trusts. The law practice will continue to operate separately.

The newly combined offices will result in over 130 professionals representing Squar Milner in the San Francisco region. This is the fourth merger for Squar Milner in the San Francisco area since Jan. 1, 2018. Squar Milner currently has eight offices in California and one in the Cayman Islands.

Squar Milner Merges In Howard and Jacobs, Spin-off of BPE&H

Irvine, Calif.-based Squar Milner LLP (FY18 net revenue of $98.2 million) announces the hiring of Scott Howard and Suzanne Jacobs, two partners who spun off from BPE&H of Woodland Hills, Calif.

The merger with Howard and Jacobs is effective Jan. 1. The deal will add $3 million in revenues and 11 professionals to Squar Milner, which has more than 600 professionals and associates, the firm announced. Squar Milner entered the agreement with Howard and Jacobs a week after announcing that it was combining with SRG of Woodland Hills and Los Angeles.

The SRG and Howard and Jacobs teams team will be located in Woodland Hills and will keep the Squar Milner name.

The newly combined offices will result in over 215 professionals representing Squar Milner in the Los Angeles region. The Woodland Hills office will be the second San Fernando Valley location for Squar Milner, as well as the third in Los Angeles.

SRG to Merge With Squar Milner in December

SRG, with offices in Woodland Hills, Calif., and Los Angeles, is merging into Irvine, Calif.-based Squar Milner LLP (FY18 net revenue of $98.2 million).

Squar Milner says SRG will contribute about $11 million of revenue and nearly 55 professionals to Squar Milner’s staff of about 550. The merger is effective Dec. 1.

The combined firm will operate as Squar Milner with the additional SRG office in Woodland Hills. The newly combined offices will result in over 200 professionals representing Squar Milner in the Los Angeles region.

The Woodland Hills office will be the second San Fernando Valley location for Squar Milner, as well as the third in Los Angeles.

Squar Milner LLP and Louie & Wong LLP Combine

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Squar Milner (FY17 net revenue of $91.8 million), an IPA 100 firm, announces it will merge with Louie & Wong LLP of San Francisco on Feb. 1.

The combined firm will retain the name Squar Milner, and Louie & Wong partners and associates will be relocating to Squar Milner’s San Francisco offices. Squar Milner has seven offices in California and one in the Cayman Islands.

Louie & Wong LLP has more than 20 professionals and staff who have offered high-end tax, accounting and auditing services to successful individuals and businesses. “They have a sophisticated client base, talented people and a stellar reputation in San Francisco,” says Squar Milner MP Steve Milner.

The firm’s partners and associates will relocate to Squar Milner’s San Francisco office. Squar Milner has seven offices throughout California.

Boas & Boas, founded in 1938, has $3 million in revenue and over 10 professionals and staff. It specializes in high-end tax services.

Squar Milner Strengthens San Diego Presence

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Squar Milner (FY17 net revenue of $91.8 million), an IPA 100 firm, announced that it is expanding with two partners – Tom Goddard and Phil Wright – and some associates of Oliva Goddard & Wright (OGW) joining the firm in San Diego on Nov. 1.

Squar Milner, which has been operating in San Diego since 1951, has seven offices throughout California with over 500 professionals and staff. OGW is a full-service accounting firm, offering a broad range of services for business owners, executives and independent professionals.

Squar Milner Acquires DZH Phillips

Effective Jan. 1, 2018, Newport Beach, Calif.-based Squar Milner (FY16 net revenue of $64.9 million) acquired San Francisco-based DZH Phillips (FY16 net revenue of $19.4 million), which is one of the largest majority-women owned firms.

DZH Phillips, with four offices in California, has more than 110 professionals adding to Squar Milner’s six offices and 350 professionals.

“We have worked for the last decade to establish ourselves as one of the preeminent firms based in California. We absolutely needed to have sizable operations in northern California. We have a robust client base in technology who are obviously active in the Bay Area. Squar Milner Acquires Loomis & Co.

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Squar Milner (FY16 net revenue of $64.9 million) will acquire Campbell, Calif.-based Loomis & Co., effective Nov. 1.

Squar Milner Acquires Los Angeles Firm

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Squar Milner LLP (FY16 net revenue of $64.9 million) acquired three partners and all of the associates of Sobelman Cohen Moss & Associates (SCM) of Woodland Hills, Calif.  The effective date of the combination will be Nov. 1. SCM is a full-service accounting firm, which offers a broad range of services for business owners, executives and independent professionals.

Squar Milner Merges in McLean Rotherham & Co.

Newport Beach, Calif.-based Squar Milner (FY14 net revenue of $47.4 million) is expanding significantly in San Diego and Encino, Calif., as McLean Rotherham & Company (McLean) and its subsidiary Hosaka Rotherham & Company will be merging into Squar Milner Feb. 1.

The combination will create the largest San Diego accounting office for a firm based in California, with over nine partners and 80 professionals and staff, the firm announced.

The merger will provide McLean’s clients with access to Squar Milner’s deep expertise and represents Squar Milner’s continued California expansion. In addition, Squar Milner has recently acquired Solomon Winnett and Rosenfield (SWR) of Los Angeles.

“McLean, Rotherham’s boutique sophisticated tax practice and Hosaka, Rotherham’s statewide charter school and educational services practice will bring a whole new expertise to our firm,” says MP Steve Milner. “We are absolutely committed to being the top California firm serving San Diego.”

The two acquisitions add about 50 employees and $6 million in revenue, Milner told the Orange County Business Journal.

Squar Milner has offices in West Los Angeles and Encino, as well as Orange County, San Diego and the Cayman Islands with nearly 300 professionals and staff.
