Postlethwaite & Netterville to Head Up Louisiana Small Business Grant Program

Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville, an IPA 100 firm, has been selected to administer the state of Louisiana’s new Main Street Recovery Program.

Among the firm’s responsibilities will be vetting and processing applications to determine eligibility and award amounts for the $300 million program, which will dole out up to $15,000 to small businesses to help them recoup expenses related to COVID-19.

In the first 21 days of the program, only small businesses that have not already received federal aid or insurance settlements will be eligible for a grant. After this period, if any money is still available, the program will be open to all small businesses so long as they are based in Louisiana, have suffered a business interruption due to the pandemic, have filed recent tax returns and have no more than 50 employees.

Postlethwaite & Netterville Admits Three Directors

Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville, an IPA 100 firm, has admitted Greg Booth, Celeste McDonald and Don McLean as directors.

Booth has been with the firm since 2011 and works with the tax services group in the New Orleans area, focusing on strategic tax planning and general tax compliance services for closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals in real estate, restaurants and professional services.

McDonald is a 10-year veteran of the firm in the New Orleans assurance group, working with clients ranging from large, public companies to small, private operations in industries including financial services, real estate, employee benefit plans, oil field services and manufacturing.

McLean works in the assurance group in Baton Rouge, largely servicing governmental clients with the implementation of new governmental accounting standards and auditing issues.

As a Sage Intacct Partner, P&N professionals work with small and mid-sized enterprise clients to implement and support Sage Intacct in response to increased demand for cloud business solutions to improve company performance and make finance departments more effective.

Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville (FY15 net revenue of $53.2 million) has unveiled a new corporate brand identity. The modern brand includes a new logo, tagline and redesigned website.

The firm’s updated website (www.pncpa.com) showcases the collective experience of the team and the firm’s approach to meeting clients’ individual needs. The new logo includes a symbol that combines the letters “P&N” to represent a “unified whole,” meaning the entirety of the firm is greater than the sum of its parts. “P&N: A Clearer Path” describes how the firm helps clients navigate complex regulations, ever-changing technology and constantly evolving practices.

“Our new corporate brand represents the firm’s focus on creating simplified pathways for our clients. It reflects the evolution of P&N’s diverse professionals and services, as well as the exceptional value we offer clients,” says Rachael Higginbotham, marketing director.

AICPA ‘Standing Ovation’ Honors Postlethwaite & Netterville CPA

The AICPA Standing Ovation program has recognized Benjamin Vance as one of 25 CPAs age 40 and under to be honored for their contributions to the areas of forensic accounting and business valuation. He was honored at the AICPA’s 2016 Forensic & Valuation Services (FVS) Conference in Nashville in November.

Vance is an associate director in the consulting practice at Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville (FY15 net revenue of $53.2 million).

The Standing Ovation program recognizes young CPAs who exhibit outstanding professional achievement in specialization areas, such as forensic accounting and business valuation.

Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville APAC (P&N) (FY15 net revenue of $53.2 million) has received two awards from the Leading Edge Alliance  (LEA) for its commitment to innovation.

The firm won an award for 2016 Internal Technology Innovation. Also, P&N and P&N Tech received an award for 2016 Innovative Firm Initiative at the LEA Global annual conference in Houston.

P&N received the Internal Technology Innovation award for its use of Atlassian’s JIRA to enhance project management visibility and efficiency across the firm’s multiple service areas and departments. This technology helped provide visibility with real-time project dashboards, resource capacity calendars, and cross-project dependency linking.  It also increased efficiencies by helping the application development team to automate manual processes, streamline business workflows and simplify the business team’s project review processes.

JIRA was initially implemented for use by P&N’s application development team, but they quickly realized JIRA’s potential for managing internal and external client engagements. The flexibility of JIRA allows the P&N team to manage complex projects or simple day-to-day tasks all within in the same system. P&N now offers JIRA implementation consulting to clients to assist in managing ongoing operations as well as projects of varying size and scope.

P&N and P&N Tech also received the Innovative Firm Initiative award for its development of Pounce®, an innovative and easy-to-use, web-based system designed for service providers in the accounting, business consulting, legal and architect/engineer/contractor (A/E/C) industries. The purpose of the system is to provide employees access to marketing collateral and resumes to aid in business development and sales efforts. The development of Pounce® was a collaborative effort between the application development team of P&N Tech and the marketing and business development professionals of Postlethwaite & Netterville.

Tabatha Broussard is a director in the Baton Rouge tax department. She joined P&N in 2004 as a tax staff accountant. Her areas of practice include individual, partnership and corporate taxation as well as tax planning and research. She works with clients in industries such as oil and gas, insurance and others.

John Piland is a director in the Baton Rouge tax department. He joined the firm in 2014. Prior to P&N, Piland was a shareholder in a CPA firm and a CFO for a mortgage servicing and commercial real estate company. He has extensive experience in tax structures for business transactions and works with privately held businesses, multi-state businesses and consolidated entities.

Brandy Smith is a director in the New Orleans area audit department. She joined P&N in 2004 as a staff auditor. She has substantial audit experience working with entities in diverse industries, including health care, non-profits, governmental and general commercial entities.

Laura Soileau is a director in the consulting department in Baton Rouge. She joined the firm in 2010 as a consulting manager. She is a leader in P&N’s control and risk advisory group, where she provides services related to internal controls, risk management, regulatory compliance and others for clients in a wide variety of industries.

Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville, APAC (P&N) (FY14 net revenue of $49.4 million) announced the addition of Elaine Fitzpatrick as an audit director of the firm’s New Orleans area practice, effective Aug. 11.

Fitzpatrick has 19 years of public accounting experience. Before joining the P&N team, Fitzpatrick served as a managing director at PwC, where she managed public and private clients across a wide range of industries including transportation, chemical industry, engineering and construction, higher education and non-profit.

Phil Gunn, P&N’s managing director of the New Orleans practice, called Fitzpatrick a great addition to the team. “Her experience, dedication and community commitment align with our core values and will be instrumental in P&N’s growth and continued success.”

Philip Rebowe Joins P&N as Director of Client Services

Baton Rouge, La.-based Postlethwaite & Netterville, an IPA 100 firm, announced that Philip Rebowe has joined the firm as director of client services, a new position.

Rebowe has more than 40 years’ experience in the accounting profession in the New Orleans market. He managed his own practice, Rebowe & Company CPAs and Advisors, for more than 20 years, and most recently worked for a top 20 public accounting firm, where he provided assurance and advisory services in a variety of industries.

He consults on financial, operational and compliance matters concerning financial statements, mergers and acquisitions, forecasting, processes and procedures, and other complex business issues. Rebowe focuses on client relationships, satisfaction and success, while mentoring P&N’s existing and emerging leaders in the New Orleans area.
