Kyle Kass Admitted to Honkamp Krueger Partner Group

Dubuque, Iowa-based Honkamp Krueger & Co. (FY18 net revenue of $80.2 million) has announced that Kyle Kass has joined the firm’s audit department and been admitted as a partner.

Kass has more than 10 years of experience at a Big 4 firm in accounting and assurance. His experience includes serving clients in the industrial products, commercial services and supplies, and business services industries, with a focus in the areas of assurance, internal controls and SEC filings. He specializes in the adoption of new accounting standards and assisting clients with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) compliance.

“I am looking forward to getting to know the clients of HK and developing solutions to their most complex issues,” Kass says.

Brian Kruk Rejoins Honkamp Krueger to Lead Quality Assurance

Dubuque, Iowa-based Honkamp Krueger & Co. (FY17 net revenue of $71.9 million) announces that Brian E. Kruk has rejoined the firm’s quality assurance services team as the practice group leader.

Kruk brings nearly 40 years of professional business experience, including 17 years of progressive internal audit. Kruk’s experience includes operational, financial, construction, joint venture, third-party contract and IT control environment audits, and he has completed hundreds of quality assurance service engagements for public and private sector clients. These include municipalities across the country, Walmart Stores, Inc., United Airlines, Hewlett Packard and various financial institutions.

Most recently, Kruk was the director of contract and construction audit for Union Pacific Railroad, where he directed teams conducting risk-based operational, contractor, construction and special investigation audits. Also, as the former director of quality audit services for the Institute of Internal Auditors, Kruk was the driving force in the rollout of the new quality assessment initiatives.

Honkamp Krueger Admits Four to Partnership Group

Matt Gardner, partner for construction audit services, works with clients in project and construction management, owner representation, contract compliance, and cost recovery, avoidance and prevention on their capital construction projects.

Shannon Hunter

Shannon Hunter is responsible for managing special projects, including efficiency reviews, software product support, staff training and new client implementation.

Robert Leibfried, a partner for the business valuation practice area, oversees the firm’s valuation department and engagements. He assists clients in understanding what a business is worth, how value is determined and establishes expectations for valuation engagements.

Reggie Rowe, a general services partner, is responsible for corporate, partnership and individual tax planning and financial statement preparation, business consulting and strategic planning, and management services. He also leads the firm’s independent medical group industry team.

Honkamp Krueger Acquires Short & Company CPA

Dubuque, Iowa-based Honkamp Krueger & Co. (FY17 net revenue of $71.9 million), an IPA 100 firm, has acquired Short & Company CPA of Waukee, Iowa, which is in the Des Moines area.

We found that with the Short & Company partners and team, who have a similar approach to business with their work ethic, quality services and culture. Honkamp Krueger Acquires Gabelmann & Associates

Effective Jan. 1, Dubuque, Iowa-based Honkamp Krueger & Co. (FY16 net revenue of $68.8 million) acquired Gabelmann & Associates, of Bettendorf, Iowa.

Ryan Burbach, partner in decision support services, works with clients to develop a practical and effective business advisory model, involving data-driven decisions and the continuous improvement of business processes.

Nicole Gantz, marketing partner, is responsible for the marketing strategy and implementation of innovative marketing solutions. She also provides marketing consulting to assist businesses with their own marketing strategies and initiatives.

Sue Lawler, audit partner, is responsible for overseeing audit team members, planning and reviewing client attestation engagements, presenting financial statements and other reports to clients, and researching new accounting pronouncements and auditing standards.

Stacey May, partner of the tax credit program of HKP, leads a highly-knowledgeable, customer service-focused team who actively pursues several federal and state employment tax credits for businesses coast-to-coast.

Stephanie Mettille, partner, assists businesses and individuals with tax planning, tax preparation, and general business consulting. She works with clients in a wide variety of industries including construction, real estate, automobile dealerships and manufacturers and has experience with multi-state businesses.

Honkamp Krueger Makes Its Own Version of ‘The Accountant’ Trailer

Adding machines, pocket protectors, mountains of receipts, crumpled coffee cups, tense conversations. Yes, it’s a trailer for, The Accountants: The Sequel.

Dubuque, Iowa-based Honkamp Krueger & Co. (FY15 net revenue of $58.4 million) is having some fun with the recently released Warner Bros. Pictures film, The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick.

The firm has made its own trailer using the dramatic tone of the original but with reviews like, “Leonard Maltin vaguely recalls, ‘It was like being in a coma, but still kind of awake.’ ”

This is not the first parody HK has created as part of its marketing strategy. The firm also created a series of Shark Tank video parodies showcasing a selection of their 40-plus services.

Campana has 22 years of experience in public accounting, five with a Big 4 firm and 17 in the national office of a Top 5 firm. He specializes in audit methodology, internal controls and financial analysis.
