HHM CPAs Appoints New COO

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based HHM Certified Public Accountants (FY18 net revenue of $30.2 million) has hired Beverly Edge as its COO to support firm growth. Pam Morris, who formerly filled the role, has transitioned to CFO.

“I have no doubt that these two talented professionals will work together seamlessly to drive firm success,” says MP Donnie Hutcherson. “We are honored to have Beverly join us and grateful for Pam’s contributions to the firm.”

Edge, a practicing attorney for over 20 years, will lead the firm’s operations as it continues to grow and expand to new markets. As COO, she will oversee all administrative and operational functions of the firm. Prior to her new role, she was a member at a local law firm where she handled mergers and acquisitions, real estate transactions, aircraft transactions and general representation of closely held businesses.

Morris will oversee the firm’s financial operations. She has over 30 years’ tax and accounting experience and is founder of Freight Depot Accounting, a customized bookkeeping firm for startups and small businesses and an affiliate of HHM CPAs.

HHM CPAs Admits Brian Baker as Partner

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based HHM Certified Public Accountants (FY18 net revenue of $30.2 million) has admitted Brian Baker as a partner in the firm’s tax practice.

Baker has been with HHM CPAs for several years and has more than 20 years of tax experience. He specializes in offering tax consulting and compliance services to businesses in a wide variety of industries.

“Brian has gone above and beyond all the expectations we had when he came on board,” says MP Donnie Hutcherson. “His knowledge, work ethic and commitment to excellence have made him a natural choice to help lead our firm toward anticipated growth in the coming years.”

Before joining HHM CPAs, Baker was a senior tax manager at a CPA firm in Pennsylvania, where he specialized in corporate and partnership compliance and consulting.

HHM CPAs Management Team Grows in Chattanooga Office

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough (FY18 net revenue of $30.2 million) has hired five senior-level professionals in its Chattanooga office: two partners, a director, a manager and a senior accountant.

HHM has admitted John Klisch as a partner in the accounting and assurance department. He supports the department by providing specialized financial, accounting and auditing experience to mid-sized companies in various industries. For over 30 years, he has helped clients with mergers and acquisitions, regulatory requirements, complex technical issues and corporate governance best practices.

Also joining the firm’s leadership is Stuart McCallum, who was admitted as a partner in the management advisory services department. Bringing years of experience with one of the nation’s top accounting firms, he will provide businesses with due diligence support, transaction closing support and financial modeling. Prior to joining HHM, he was the vice president of investment banking for a boutique investment bank where he focused on the technology industry.

Additionally, Terry Winstead is HHM’s newest director in the accounting and assurance department, Brian Miller is now tax manager and Diane Mahoney joins HHM as a senior accountant.

“Bringing in additional talent will help HHM increase the value we can add to our clients and their businesses,” says MP Donnie Hutcherson.

HHM CPAs Acquires Local Accounting Firm

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough (FY17 net revenue of $24.4 million), an INSIDE Public Accounting Best of the Best Firm, has announced its acquisition of Grisham Wildman & Work (GWW,) a Memphis, Tenn., firm that focuses on automobile dealerships.

The combined firms will operate as HHM CPAs at HHM’s Memphis location at 1755 Kirby Parkway.

Prior to starting their own firm, Dave Wildman and Jerry Grisham spent more than 15 years working at George B. Jones, one of the first CPA firms to specialize in the automotive industry. They began their own firm in 1993, working with dealerships in the Memphis area and across the nation.

“The automotive industry experience Dave and Jerry bring to the table will complement the depth of service provided by HHM’s dealership group, and we are looking forward to strengthening the relationships with their clients that have been built over their long careers,” says HHM partner Darrin Yoder, who leads the Memphis office dealership practice.

The acquisition brings HHM’s employee total to 155, including the 30 team members in the Memphis office. All GWW’s employees were retained in the merger. Both Wildman and Grisham joined HHM as directors.

HHM CPAs Appoints New MP of Memphis Office

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough (FY17 net revenue of $24.4 million), an INSIDE Public Accounting Best of the Best Firm, has announced that Jason Martin has been named MP of the Memphis, Tenn., office.

This announcement comes just one year after Martin moved from the Chattanooga office to Memphis. Martin joined the firm’s audit department in Chattanooga in 2011. He was admitted to the partnership in 2016.

“It’s a privilege and honor to lead our firm’s growth efforts in Memphis,” Martin says. “Our firm is made up of a dynamic group of accountants and professionals who have a great passion of serving Memphis area businesses and organizations. Relocating to Memphis was an easy decision given the growth opportunities for our firm and wonderful things my family will now experience in this great city.”

With over a dozen years of experience in a diverse range of industries, Martin counts construction companies, family-owned and closely held businesses, and governmental institutions among his areas of expertise. In addition to providing traditional audit services to a wide range of clients, he spends much of his time assisting clients solve complex operational challenges. He also provides valuable consulting services to his clients by utilizing his problem-solving skills and his background in fraud investigative and forensic services.

HHM CPAs Names New Chief Operating Officer

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based HHM CPAs (FY17 net revenue of $24.4 million) announces the appointment of Pam Morris as chief operating officer, a new position within the firm.

Morris began her career at HHM in 2013 as partner and served in her role until 2015 when her passion for small businesses led her to co-found Freight Depot Accounting, an affiliate company of HHM. FDA launched in 2015 to provide startups, small to medium-size businesses, and nonprofits with professional accounting services.

As HHM’s COO, Morris will oversee daily operations and administrative processes of all departments including recruiting and service organization.

Morris will set comprehensive goals to drive growth and continue improving client experiences while encouraging high performance and retention. Morris will continue her involvement with FDA, leaving the operations manager to oversee day-to-day processes.

“Pam has been a key member of HHM’s management team for many years,” says Donnie Hutcherson, HHM MP. “She has been vital in the success of the firm and will execute operations as we continue to grow. When I decided to fill the COO position, I realized the person who knew our firm well and had the qualifications we needed was already in the building.”

 

Four Join Partnership at HHM CPAs

Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Henderson Hutcherson & McCullough (HHM) (FY17 net revenue of $24.4 million) announce that four senior managers have been accepted as partners in the Chattanooga office: Will Clegg, Jon Paul Davis, Adam Osborne and Branden Wilson.

Clegg, Davis, Osborne and Wilson each began their accounting careers at the firm 10 or more years ago.

“This group of leaders represents the growth and loyalty within our firm,” says MP Donnie Hutcherson.

“Watching the professional growth from intern and staff accountants to partners has been very rewarding. All four have been contributors to the success of HHM and each brings specific expertise valuable for the firm’s future.”

Jon Paul Davis

Clegg has been with HHM for 11 years and is instrumental in guiding business owners and managers through complex tax and strategic planning decisions. He provides expertise in tax, estates, trusts and other specialized work. He has spent his professional career developing relationships with local nonprofit organizations while serving them in any way possible.

Adam Osborne

Davis joined at HHM in January 2008 as an intern in accounting and assurance (A&A) and tax. Early on, Davis transitioned from A&A to the firm’s management advisory services (MAS) department. Davis guides clients through business planning, including strategic growth decisions, forecasts and financial modeling. He also assists clients with all stages of mergers and acquisitions, and works with high-net‐worth clients to provide individual tax and consulting services.

Branden Wilson

Osborne started his accounting career 10 years ago when he began at HHM in the A&A department. He offers specialized assurance, accounting and tax services to a variety of clients including nonprofits, churches, manufacturing and distribution companies, and dealerships.

Wilson began his career in public accounting at HHM as an intern in January 2008. He provides assurance, tax and advisory services to clients of various sizes and industries. Within both the audit and tax departments, he provides a broad range of services ranging from complex GAAP accounting to proactive tax planning.

Martin has over 10 years of experience in serving a broad range of clients, including governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, dealerships, private equity funds and service companies. He helps to oversee the accounting and assurance department and fraud investigative and forensic services for HHM.
