Eide Bailly Merges in HMWC

Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly (FY19 net revenue of $341.7 million) has merged in Tustin, Calif.-based HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors (FY19 net revenue of $17.9 million).

The deal, effective May 18, will add 13 partners and 80 staff to Eide Bailly and a new office in Orange County, Calif., in addition to the 10 it already operates in the state.

“The addition of HMWC enhances our California team with a strong commitment to client service, talented staff and a culture that matches our own dedication to being a firm of choice for clients and staff,” says MP and CEO Dave Stende.

HMWC , founded 52 years ago, specializes in medical, dental, construction and real estate clients.

“Joining forces with Eide Bailly will help us serve our clients even better by allowing us to offer additional resources and services to our clients that will help them achieve their goals,” says MP Steve Williams. “We will be able to enhance our ability to serve our clients with additional expertise and talent in areas such as technology consulting, specialized tax services and more that will help them succeed in today’s business environment.”

He adds that staff will also benefit with opportunities for learning and professional growth “to pursue their passions, which in turn will enrich our clients’ experiences.”

Koltin Consulting Group and Gary Shamis of Winding River Consulting advised both two firms.

Wallace Neumann & Verville to Join Eide Bailly

Wallace Neumann & Verville of Las Vegas will be joining Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly (FY19 net revenue of $341.7 million) on Nov. 18, the firms announced.

The three partners and 13 staff at Wallace Neumann & Verville will move into Eide Bailly’s existing Las Vegas office, bringing more knowledge and expertise in several key industries, including entertainment, construction, medical practices and more.

“Our clients will now have access to services and resources that will help them find solutions to their challenges as seamlessly as possible, whether that’s help with state and local tax issues, international deals or cybersecurity concerns,” says partner Brad Wallace.

Eide Bailly Names New Board Members

Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly (FY19 net revenue of $341.7 million) announces that Jeremy Hauk was recently elected chair of the firm’s board of directors and Brian Callahan was re-elected as vice chair. Jodi Daughtery was also elected to the board.

All three are partners. They work from Billings, Mont., Denver and Boise, Idaho, respectively.

Hauk joined the firm in 1989 and provides tax, consulting and business advisory services to a diverse group of clients from a wide range of industries. He is a member of two other firm committees and is PIC of tax services.

Callahan has provided assurance services to his clients since 1994. He specializes in accounting issues that concern the real estate, manufacturing, distribution, software and internet, consumer products and energy industries. He is an SEC partner and is PIC of the Colorado offices in Denver, Fort Collins, Boulder and Grand Junction.

Daugherty joined the firm in 1995 and serves as PIC of the government industry. She has extensive experience in a wide variety of public accounting services, and her client portfolio is just as diverse, having worked with non-profit organizations, governmental entities, multifamily and public housing authorities, and retirement plans.

Eide Bailly Plans Big Expansion into California With Merger

Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly (FY18 net revenue of $299.2 million) has acquired Vavrinek Trine Day & Company (VDT).

Effective July 22, the combination will add 11 California offices and an expanded Phoenix office to Eide Bailly, ranked No. 20 on the 2018 IPA 100 list.

“The addition of VTD launches us into California with exceptional local talent and a culture that matches our own dedication to client service and being an employer of choice for our staff,” Dave Stende, Eide Bailly MP and CEO says in a statement. “This combination deepens our expertise in several key industries that Eide Bailly serves.”

VTD, established in 1948, specializes in government, education, commercial, tax and financial institutions. Becoming part of Eide Bailly will bring tremendous opportunities for both clients and staff, says Kevin Pulliam, VTD MP.

“Eide Bailly’s knowledge, resources and consulting services will allow us to help our clients more fully. Eide Bailly Acquires Xerva to Expand Data Solutions

Xerva, a data analytics and data warehouse as a service (DWaaS) pioneer, will become part of Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly (FY18 net revenue of $299.2 million) on May 1, the firm announced.

“With the proliferation of big data in the market, business intelligence and data analytics services are in high demand from businesses of all sizes and industries,” explains Scott Kost, director of Eide Bailly’s technology consulting practice. “Xerva’s addition is the perfect complement to our existing client offerings because, when you think about it, Eide Bailly works in data every day – whether it’s an audit or an ERP implementation. With this expanded technology specialization, we are better equipped to help our clients understand and get the most out of their business data.”

Xerva, of Orem, Utah, was founded in 2014 with the goal to provide enterprise-level data solutions to the mid-market. Xerva says it focuses on helping clients take control of their “data chaos” and gain real business intelligence from their systems and reporting. Xerva adds more than 20 experienced staff to Eide Bailly’s data analytics team.

“We grew from the realization that mid-market companies have all of the same data challenges that Fortune 500 companies do,” says co-founder Nate Allphin. “Our team brings business intelligence to organizations that often feel enterprise analytics are out of reach.”

Tactical Cloud Joins Eide Bailly NetSuite Team

Cloud technology firm Tactical Cloud of Costa Mesa, Calif., will become part of Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly (FY18 net revenue of $299.2 million) on Feb. 25, the firms announced.

The union adds additional enterprise resource planning (ERP) and cloud expertise to Eide Bailly’s NetSuite practice. NetSuite offers cloud-based business management software.

Tactical Cloud has doubled in size every year since its founding in 2015 and is the fastest-growing NetSuite partner in Southern California, the firm says. Eide Bailly, for its part, has been named NetSuite Americas Partner of the Year in 2017 and 2018. It is a Top 5 Global NetSuite partner.

The union will bring two partners and four staff to Eide Bailly, which is ranked No. 20 on the 2018 IPA 100 list. The new staff members will work from Eide Bailly’s existing Phoenix office.

Tom Goekeler, partner at Fargo, N.D.-based Eide Bailly LLP (FY18 net revenue of $299.2 million) has been named chief practice officer of the South Central region, which currently covers the firm’s Oklahoma and Texas offices. He joins Barb Aasen, CPO for the Midwest region, and Andy Spillum, CPO for the Western region. Goekeler currently serves as the PIC of the firm’s Tulsa, Okla., office, as well as the director of the dealership industry, and will continue in those duties in addition to his new role.

Goekeler’s new role includes overseeing the region and local partners, as well as identifying opportunities for growth and innovation. He brings more than 30 years of financial and public accounting experience to the table and prides himself on helping clients achieve their biggest business objectives.
