WebsterRogers Partner and Wife Killed in Car Crash

H. McRoy Skipper Jr. and his wife, Josephine, were killed in a tragic accident in North Carolina the evening of Aug. 29, the firm announced.

“Today we mourn the loss of a great man, a brilliant mentor and a dear friend,” says Chuck Talbert, OMP in Georgetown, S.C. “The loss isn’t just our own, McRoy and Jo were staples in both their community and the profession, leaving so many individuals behind in the wake of this tragedy. We are the lucky ones to have known the Skippers and will keep their family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.”

McRoy was a partner in the firm and managed the Georgetown and Pawleys Island, S.C., locations. He merged his former practice with WebsterRogers LLP in 1999. Since that time, he has served on the firm’s executive committee and led several of the firm’s large initiatives.

McRoy has served the accounting profession in many capacities over the past 40 years. He was a past president of the South Carolina Association of CPAs and a former chair of the South Carolina Board of Accountancy.

He also heavily involved in his community by holding several leadership roles for local organizations including Tidelands Health Systems, Georgetown Rotary, Charleston Southern University, Winyah Indigo Society, Georgetown Economic Development Alliance, and Georgetown Water and Sewer District.
