Thomas Bonadio, CEO and founder of Pittsford, N.Y.-based The Bonadio Group (FY17 net revenue of $92.1 million) has been recognized by the Rochester Business Journal as a recipient of the first-ever ICON Honors awards. Honorees are trailblazing business leaders over the age of 60 who have had notable success and demonstrate strong leadership both within and outside of their chosen fields.

Bonadio—one of 20 recipients—was presented with his ICON Honors award during the award’s inaugural reception in Rochester.

“I’m humbled to be among this blue-ribbon group of Rochester leaders and innovators,” says Bonadio. “I always say there are two major reasons for our success at this firm—providing superior client service, and enabling our people to grow with us and achieve work-life balance. Those are the building blocks, and I’m grateful to everyone who has supported those efforts.”

“Strong leadership, a commitment to mentoring and being an active community member are qualities shared by the ICON Honors recipients,” says Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, publisher of the Rochester Business Journal. “They have moved business in Rochester forward, both their own businesses and the Rochester business community in general. ICON Honors recipients have committed many years to making our area a wonderful place to live and to work, and they truly deserve to be called icons. Rochester Business Journal is pleased to honor them.”

Bonadio started The Bonadio Group in 1978 at his kitchen table, and has since grown the firm to a nationally ranked top 40 CPA firm with 10 offices, 750 employees and a growing number of client relationships currently totaling more than 16,000. Bonadio has created a culture within the firm that maintains the personalized approach of its small firm roots with the specialized capabilities that deliver the same level of service of a Big 4 firm.
