Austin Accounting Firm Merges with Larger Dallas Practice

Midwikis & Granger of Austin, Texas, is merging with Wagner Eubank & Nichols of Dallas to expand its accounting services and give both firms greater access to their respective markets, the Austin Business Journal reported.

“By joining up with them, we will be able to provide our clients with audit services and financial accounting services,” Tom Granger, co-founder of Midwikis & Granger along with JoAnne Widwikis, told the newspaper.

The merger had an added benefit for 35-year-old Midwikis & Granger, which has 10 employees: tapping into a younger talent pool.

“Most of our folks are 50 years old and older,” Granger says, while Wagner Eubank & Nichols, which employs 45 people, “has a number of younger folks.”

Midwikis & Granger is keeping its name and its current clients. The biggest shift, both firms say, will be using the combined company’s reach to attract new clients and employees.

“With the exception of lawyers, CPAs have a very intimate relationship with our clients,” Granger says. “[This move] will take advantage of those relationships as opposed to [Wagner Eubank & Nichols] coming in here and opening an office cold turkey.”
