MSI Global Alliance Celebrates 25th Anniversary

MSI Global Alliance, a leading international association of independent legal and accounting firms, this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.

MSI was founded in 1990 by the partners of London-based accountancy firm MacIntyre, now known as haysmacintyre, and Düsseldorf, Germany-based multidisciplinary firm Sträter, now known as Abels Decker Kuhfuss Lenzen & Partner. Their vision was to create an international, multidisciplinary association that would enable lawyers, accountants and tax advisers to provide cross-border services to their clients.

MSI’s chairman, James Mendelssohn, comments, “Just as it was 25 years ago, the founding principle of bringing lawyers and accountants together in the same group still today remains a very significant factor when firms are considering joining our association. The MSI founding firms had a real vision.”

Other associations and networks (including the Big 4) have more recently adopted the multidisciplinary approach, realizing the benefits of linking these professionals together.

MSI has grown to become a leading international association maintaining a unique 50/50 split of legal and accounting member firms. MSI is currently ranked sixth in the worldwide associations’ table with 246 independent member firms in 101 countries.

Tim Wilson, chief executive of MSI, says, “Our 25th anniversary marks an ideal time for us to reflect on MSI’s successes but also look to the future. I intend to build on MSI’s strengths and ensure that MSI is the first choice multidisciplinary association for ambitious, independent legal and accounting firms seeking to compete in the global economy”.

He adds, “This is an exciting time for MSI. We have a new strategy, we are refreshing our brand and will be launching a new website in the New Year, which will really take us forward as an association”.
