Sebastian “Seb” Albrecht, founder of Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Albrecht Viggiano Zureck & Co. has passed away, the firm announced.

The firm was formed after World War II, at a time when the Long Island landscape was beginning to transform from farmland to suburbia, and small business became the American dream of many people who migrated to the area, the firm said.

Albrecht became the accountant for many of these small businesses and helped them grow by arranging the financing they needed to get started. Because of his ability to nurture relationships and provide exceptional service, AVZ continues to work with many second and third generation succession clients today.

“Now in its 65th year it is hard to quantify how many lives have been impacted by his decision to begin a firm. So many have passed through its doors. Some have been here for only a short period of time and others have spent their entire career at AVZ. Either way each and every person who has ever been a part of its family is really a result of his vision. Everyone at the firm is a part of his legacy, and for those who knew and had the great pleasure of working with Seb, they are better because of him,” the firm said.
