Financial Wrongdoing at VFW Leads to Indictment of Ohio Accountant

Accountant Jennifer Edelbrock of Kalida, Ohio, faces up to three years in prison on two counts of grand theft. She was indicted July 17. She is out of jail on bail and will enter a plea to the charges this week, the Lima News reported.

Edelbrock is accused of writing a bad check for $12,192 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Spencerville on April 13. Both charges are related to crimes with the VFW and Edelbrock remains under investigation, officials said.

Authorities raided the Edelbrock-Reitz accounting firm in Delphos, Ohio, May 19, as part of an investigation into possible financial crimes.

Delphos Police Chief Kyle Fittro told the newspaper that business owners began to notice they were missing money and made reports to police. The accounting firm was the one thing each business had in common, which led investigators to the firm, Fittro said.
