BDO Merges in Central Florida Firm

A well-known Central Florida accounting firm will have a new moniker come Aug. 1, thanks to its merger with Chicago-based BDO (FY15 net revenue of $1 billion), the Orlando Business Journal reported.

Orlando, Fla.-based Cross, Fernandez & Riley and its 95 employees will become part of the BDO. Combined with BDO’s existing presence in Miami and West Palm Beach, this latest acquisition will bring BDO’s total staff in Florida to more than 200.

Cross, Fernandez & Riley previously was BDO’s Orlando office from 1970-2000, when the partners bought the firm and changed its name.

“I want to welcome — and in some cases welcome back — the partners and staff of Cross, Fernandez & Riley to BDO,” says Wayne Berson, CEO of BDO USA. He says the firm is one of the leading practices in the I-4 corridor. BDO will maintain all of the firm’s four offices.

Jim Cross, MP of Cross, Fernandez & Riley, said that by rejoining BDO, his firm gains larger resources that should help the firm “attract and retain the best and brightest talent in Central Florida.”
