Baker Newman Noyes Completes Merger in Massachusetts

Portland, Maine-based Baker Newman Noyes (BNN) (FY14 net revenue of $29.8 million) announced that the acquisition and integration of the external audit and tax practices of Shatswell MacLeod & Company (SMC) of West Peabody, Mass., announced on April 22 is complete effective July 1.

“Ensuring a seamless integration over the past few months, especially during our busiest time of year was key; our integration team delivered above and beyond,” says Eleanor Baker, BNN’s managing principal. “This is an exciting time as we welcome a group of very talented professionals to our thriving financial services practice.”

BNN now has a very significant stake in the New England community banking sector, integrating what was already a successful practice. The combined strength includes team members with deep experience serving commercial and savings banks, credit unions, non-depository trust companies and investment advisory firms.

All of the employees of SMC’s external audit and tax practices have joined BNN in the firm’s two new locations in Massachusetts. With this addition, BNN has approximately 250 employees, including 38 principals.
