Williams to Lead Grant Thornton’s Mid-South Private Wealth Services Practice

Ann Marie (Schmitz) Williams has joined Chicago-based Grant Thornton LLP (FY13 net revenue of $1.3 billion) as a partner and the Mid-South private wealth services practice leader, based in the firm’s Charlotte, N.C., office.

Williams has more than 20 years of experience working with high-net worth individuals, multigenerational wealthy families and privately held business owners on a range of issues, including business succession planning, estate planning and complex wealth transfer strategies.

“Ann Marie brings to this position a unique perspective that will be an asset to our clients, having practiced in both legal and accounting environments,” says Kelli Knoble, Grant Thornton’s East region tax services leader. “She will play an integral role in leading the growth and driving the strategy of the private wealth services practice throughout the Mid-South region.”

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Williams served as a senior director at BDO USA. Previously, she worked for more than a decade in roles of increasing responsibility for KPMG LLP, CliftonLarsonAllen LLP and Wells Fargo & Co.
