Marcum Admits New California Tax Leaders

New York-based Marcum LLP (FY13 net revenue of $350.2 million) announced new tax leaders in its California region.

Effective immediately, John Eckweiler, a partner in the Irvine office, was named PIC of tax and business services for the California region.

Rob Babek was named PIC of tax and business services for the Los Angeles office. He assumes the role from Alan Griffith, a tax partner who will continue to head Marcum’s corporate and international practice groups on the West Coast.

Eckweiler, a former IRS agent, has more than 25 years of CPA and business advisory experience. His experience includes tax planning and consulting for closely-held companies and high-net-worth individuals, mergers and acquisitions, research and compliance services. He has successfully represented clients before federal, state and local taxing authorities. In addition, he has extensive experience with corporate, individual, nonprofit and partnership tax entities.

Babek is an active member of the national Marcum family office, high-net-worth individuals and trusts and estates practice groups and provides tax consulting, compliance, assurance and accounting services for individuals, corporations and not-for-profits. He is an expert in the area of S corporation taxation, and his industry concentrations include manufacturing, distribution, retail, apparel and real estate.
