Chicago-based Crowe Horwath LLP (FY14 net revenue of $670.2 million) and CHAN Healthcare of Clayton, Mo., announced that Sarah Cole has been named CEO of CHAN Healthcare, effective April 1. Cole is currently senior vice president at CHAN Healthcare and a partner at Crowe. CHAN Healthcare is a subsidiary of Crowe Horwath. Cole will be the first female CEO of CHAN Healthcare, which is one of the largest providers of risk consulting and internal audit services in the U.S. health care industry.

“Sarah has spent her entire career in the health care industry and this extensive experience makes her the ideal candidate to become CHAN’s next CEO,” says Steve Strammello, current CEO of CHAN Healthcare. “U.S. health care organizations are facing unprecedented governance, risk and compliance challenges, and I am confident CHAN Healthcare will continue to meet our clients’ challenges under Sarah’s leadership.” Strammello, who is the MP of risk consulting services at Crowe, will remain on the board of managers of CHAN Healthcare.

“It’s a privilege to have been selected to lead CHAN Healthcare,” says Cole. “Given the complexity of the health care environment today, it’s particularly meaningful. Through our partnership with Crowe, I’m looking forward to continuing the expansion of our solutions and technology to help our clients in these challenging times.”

Cole’s health care career spans 20 years. When she joined CHAN Healthcare in 2003, she led the internal audit team at St. Vincent Health, a member of the Ascension Health network, based in Indianapolis. Cole transitioned to CHAN Healthcare’s corporate office in St. Louis in 2007 to manage services provided to its largest client, Ascension. Cole has since expanded her responsibilities and currently oversees the internal audit services provided to all of CHAN Healthcare’s internal audit clients.
