Billy Moore has been named chief financial officer (CFO) of Chicago-based Grant Thornton LLP (FY13 net revenue of $1.3 billion). He will succeed Russ Wieman upon his retirement from the firm.

In his new role, Moore is responsible for the finance and accounting operations of the firm. He has experience with financial reporting, strategic planning and budgeting, working capital and supply chain management, debt and equity financing, mergers and acquisitions, treasury and credit management, tax planning and oversight of information systems and internal audit functions.

“Billy brings to this role more than 30 years of industry experience coupled with proven leadership and extensive operational and financial insight,” says J. Michael McGuire, CEO of Grant Thornton. “He will be instrumental to the growth of the firm and will build on the momentum that Russ established during his tenure, during which Grant Thornton achieved the strongest financial condition in its history.”

Prior to joining Grant Thornton in 2009, Moore served for 15 years as the executive vice president and CFO of several publicly traded multinational companies. In addition, he spent nearly 20 years with Ernst & Young LLP in numerous roles of increasing responsibility, including audit partner and managing partner of several offices.
