Citrin Cooperman Continues Expansion With Addition of RSSM Talent

New York-based Citrin Cooperman (FY13 net revenue of $133 million) announced the arrival of four audit partners and approximately 15 staff people formerly with New York-based Rosen Seymour Shapss Martin & Company LLP (RSSM) (FY13 net revenue of $39.3 million). In addition, Fred Shapss, the firm’s former MP, has joined Citrin Cooperman as a consultant.

Shapss, Corey Bell, Robert Modansky, Mitchell Rubin and the additional staff will be based out of the firm’s New York headquarters, while Matthew Murphy will be located in the White Plains, N.Y., office.

Shapss is a major force in the New York accounting landscape. He has the rare combination of accounting and consulting acumen, along with decades of experience garnered from being managing partner of RSSM. Shapss will be working with Citrin Cooperman as an audit and business consultant.

Bell is an audit partner providing accounting, audit, and tax services to the manufacturing, wholesale, professional services, real estate and hospitality industries. He is also a specialist in tax planning for both corporate clients and high net worth individuals.

Modansky works in several areas including forensics, litigation support, insolvency, audit and tax. His clients cover a wide area of industries, including oil and gas, art suppliers, cigar manufacturers/importers, financial services, leasing and food services. Modansky was formerly the co-PIC of RSSM’s insolvency practice.

Rubin is a partner providing audit, attest and advisory services. He has more than 30 years of experience handling a diverse spectrum of clients, including clearing and non-clearing broker-dealers, investment fund, and public and privately held companies. His industry expertise includes publishing, financial services, not-for-profit and governmental entities.

Murphy is an audit partner with more than 20 years of public accounting and auditing experience. He has a wide array of expertise working with clients in the manufacturing, construction, real estate, financing and retail industries. In addition, he audits publicly held entities and employee benefit plans.
