Whitley Penn Announces Merger with Dallas-Based Firm

Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY 13 net revenue of $ 58.7 million) announced that effective Nov. 1, the firm will merge with JonesBaggett LLP of Dallas.

Cecil Jones, MP of JonesBaggett LLP, and the team will join the Dallas office of Whitley Penn, boosting the firm’s Dallas-area presence to 248 employees.

Since its inception, JonesBaggett LLP has concentrated on providing professional services to financial institutions. Jones has more than 30 years of experience in planning and supervising audits, acquisition reviews, financial statement preparation and various types of SEC and other regulatory filings. He also has significant experience in financial institutions, including commercial banks, bank holding companies, mortgage banks and savings and loan associations.

The addition of the JonesBaggett team expands Whitley Penn’s financial institutions practice to include banks ranging in asset size from $60 million to $13 billion. These bank clients are located throughout Texas and neighboring states.  Jones will serve as the firm’s practice group leader for the financial institutions industry group.
