Mayer Hoffman McCann Names New COO

Cleveland and Leawood, Kan.-based CBIZ & Mayer Hoffman McCann (FY12 net revenue of $615 million) announced the appointment of Andy Burczyk as COO for the firm.

Burczyk has served as the regional attest practice leader at Mayer Hoffman McCann’s (MHM) Leawood, Kan., office with responsibility for the attest practice operations in the Midwest. He also serves on the firm’s executive committee and is a member of the firm’s professional standards group. Burczyk joined the organization in 2007 after more than 20 years in the profession.

As COO for the firm, Burczyk will be responsible for oversight of practice development and marketing, talent development and management and technology and methodology initiatives. “I’m very excited about this opportunity and look forward to leading the firm’s growth initiatives,” says Burczyk. “We are well positioned to continue providing premier service to our clients and also find new opportunities for growth.”

Pugh Joins Grant Thornton’s Minneapolis Tax Practice

Chicago-based Grant Thornton LLP (FY12 net revenue of $1.2 billion) admitted Erich Pugh as partner to the tax services practice in Minneapolis.

Pugh has experience with global income tax reporting, related financial statement disclosures, and structuring acquisitions and dispositions. His experience also spans tax accounting, federal, state and local tax, and compensation and benefits.

“Erich brings extensive knowledge and diverse experience, particularly in federal and international tax for both the public and private sectors,” said Amy Roberts, leader of Grant Thornton’s Minneapolis tax practice. “His insights and understanding of complex tax laws and regulation, both here and internationally, will be invaluable assets to our firm and clients.”

Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Pugh served as a partner with Ernst & Young LLP.

 

Marks Paneth Names PIC of Theater, Media and Entertainment Group

New York-based Marks Paneth (FY12 net revenue of $86.9 million) has named Christopher Cacace as PIC of the firm’s theater, media and entertainment group. He has been with Marks Paneth and its predecessor firms since 1982.

Marks Paneth’s theater, media and entertainment group helps theatrical producers, industry professionals, film and television production studios, radio and television stations, book and magazine publishers, advertising agencies and public relations firms reduce costs and improve efficiency and internal controls in their core business operations. The group also helps clients address tax and HR compliance, regulatory and reporting matters, and other issues.
