Florida CPA Dies in Skiing Accident in Utah

Michael S. Leone, a longtime South Florida accountant and attorney died Jan. 28 after a skiing accident in Utah. Leone, 66, crashed into a tree while skiing at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, the Palm Beach Post reported.

It was unclear why Leone, who was wearing a helmet, hit the tree, resort spokeswoman Katy McEver told The Associated Press.

Leone worked for BDO, an international accounting firm that recently took over for his former employer, Alpern Rosenthal. He held both a law and master’s degree in accounting from the University of Miami. Leone was visiting Utah to spend time with his daughter and grandchildren and to go skiing, his ex-wife, Sharon Marks told the newspaper. “Anyone that would know him would have the most respect for him,” she said. “He was really honest, an incredible parent and a very dedicated man to me and his to family, to his work and to the community. He was really giving.”
