Four Admitted as Partners at Whitley Penn

Michael Arnell, Christy Cates, Terry Cosand and Thomas Stewart have been named partners with Fort Worth, Texas-based Whitley Penn (FY12 net revenue of $49 million).

Arnell joined the firm in 2004 as a tax staff in the Fort Worth office. He specializes in entrepreneurial services and business consulting with closely held companies, high-net-worth families and medical practices. Cates joined the firm in 2001 as a tax intern in the Fort Worth office and has provided tax consulting and advisory services to a variety of clients. Her focus is on high-net-worth individuals, family groups, and oil and gas companies. Cosand joined the firm in 2005 as part of the audit department in the Fort Worth office and prior to that, served as an audit manager with Ernst & Young. Cosand is a leader in the employee benefit plan practice, which includes more than 160 employee benefit plan audits. She works out of the Dallas office. Stewart joined Whitley Penn in 2011 as a litigation support senior manager in the Dallas office and prior to that managed his own firm since 1997. Thomas serves as a testifying expert to the Texas business and legal community in matters of family law, probate, personal injury and civil litigation involving property evaluations and characterization, income taxation, commercial damages and lost profits and forensic accounting.
