AICPA Adds Forensic Accounting Certificate Program

The AICPA has begun offering a Forensic Accounting Educational Certificate for those who pass an online course teaching best practices for producing work that will pass muster in a courtroom or boardroom. The course is designed to help accountants develop specialized skills that can be applied to bankruptcy and insolvency, computer forensic analysis, family law, economic damages, valuations, and fraud prevention, the AICPA said.

The AICPA has been offering the Certified in Financial Forensics, or CFF, credential since 2008, but it also sees demand growing for forensics courses from CPAs looking to develop a new skill set and broaden their practice area.

“We anticipate that many participants will expand upon this knowledge base and take the next step in their careers by obtaining the AICPA’s Certified in Financial Forensics credential,” according to Eddy Parker, AICPA senior technical manager of forensic and valuation services. Demand for forensic services is expected to grow. For more information, visit www.cpa2biz.com/forensic.
