BKD CEO Neal Spencer Moving On From Leadership Role

Neal Spencer, BKD LLP’s CEO, plans to step down from the firm’s top post later this year to spend more time with his family and pursue other professional passions at BKD.

Spencer will shift his duties and responsibilities to the new CEO, who has not yet been identified, and move on to evaluate new, and existing, growth and service opportunities for BKD.

“It has been my highest honor and privilege to serve as CEO of BKD,” says Spencer, CEO since 2007. “The partner chosen to succeed me will have the passion to take our firm to heights even greater than I imagined, and I will be the next CEO’s biggest supporter,” Spencer said.

“I’m excited about the opportunities on the horizon, and I know BKD will continue to deliver on its signature promise of unmatched client service.”

Spencer has been responsible for the leadership and strategic direction of the firm’s nearly 2,000 personnel, including 250 partners, in 30 offices nationwide and internationally.

During his tenure as CEO, Spencer has guided the firm successfully through the economic downturn and restructured the firm into three geographic operating regions and one virtual operating region comprising national initiatives and subsidiaries. Spencer led a comprehensive rewriting of the firm’s partnership agreement and oversaw a rebranding effort designed to position BKD in the marketplace.

Spencer entered the accounting profession in 1986, joining BKD’s Little Rock,  Ark., office and was admitted to partner in 1995. Before becoming CEO, Spencer spent 10 years as OMP of the firm’sKentucky and southernIndiana offices.
