Berdon Transitions to New Leadership

The top-30 CPA and Advisory firm Berdon LLP (FY10 net revenue of $93 million) transitioned to new leadership effective January 1. Executive partners Mark Bosswick and Stuart Kotler assumed the leadership of the firm as co-managing partners. Stanley Freundlich, the former managing partner, took on the role of managing partner emeritus.

Joining the firm in 1962 and rising to managing partner in 1980, Stanley Freundlich raised a modestly-sized firm to a diversified, highly respected, regional powerhouse with annual revenue approaching $100 million. Mark Bosswick and Stuart Kotler, each with more than 25 years with the firm, were bred in the entrepreneurial approach established by Freundlich where partners
advise on all aspects of a client’s world — business, personal, family, tax, economics.

Mark Bosswick has built strong, personal relationships with the leaders of many prominent closely held businesses involved in real estate, financial services, and other sectors as well as with entertainers and other high net-worth individuals. Advising on both business and personal wealth matters, Mark helps bring transactions in the billions of dollars to reality. He is asked to advise on the often delicate matters involving family members and their financial needs.

Stuart Kotler leverages his business acumen and tax expertise to serve as key negotiator in complex sales, acquisitions, workouts, and other transactions for clients involved in private businesses and in public companies. Stuart has been influential in the formation and operation of Real Estate Investment Trusts and in structuring joint ventures. Working with the litigation team, he has qualified Berdon as an expert in New York State Supreme Court.

Attuned to a rapidly evolving marketplace, Mark and Stuart will take the very best of the Berdon culture that guided their careers to help Berdon professionals reach their full potential, meet the expectations of today’s clients, and develop new markets.
