CBIZ Acquires IPA Best of the Best Firm

Cleveland-based CBIZ, Inc. (FY09 net revenue of $ 599.2 million) acquired the non-attest business of Kirkland, Russ, Murphy & Tapp (FY09 net revenue of $11 million) of Clearwater, Fla., on Nov. 1. Leawood, Kan.-based Mayer Hoffman McCann acquired the attest business of the firm. KRMT has 12.5 partners and 57 staff.

KRMT was named by INSIDE Public Accounting as one of the “Best of the Best” firms for 2010.

KRMT MP Bill Tapp stated, “The CBIZ organization has a strong commitment to client service and a service promise very similar to that found in KRMT’s vision statement. That commitment coupled with the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing national platform that provides greater opportunities for our clients and new growth opportunities for our team members will enhance the long-term continuity and success of our practice and benefit everyone.”

“KRMT was one of the most profitable and fastest growing local firms in the southeast region. Even though they were a first generation firm with very young partners, they were able to become the largest locally based firm in the Tampa Bay area. CBIZ was attracted to the youth of the group as well as the demonstrated track record of success. This merger is consistent with CBIZ strategic vision of merging in young, dynamic and growth oriented firms that are dominant in their market,” Allan Koltin, CEO of PDI Global, Inc., tells IPA.
