Grant Thornton Acquires Huron Consultings’ Dispute & Investigations Practice

Chicago-based Grant Thornton (FY09 net revenue of $1.1 billion) acquired the assets of Huron Consulting Group’s disputes and investigations practice.

About 60 staff from Huron’s disputes and investigations practice will join GT’s offices in New York, San Francisco, Boston and Chicago.

According to reports, Huron announced that they were divesting themselves of their disputes and investigations practice. The company had been considering shedding itself of the practice for a while; disputes and investigations accounted for about 5% of the company’s overall revenue, according to a statement on Huron’s website.

The disputes and investigations practice focuses on business disputes, business interruption analysis, economic analysis and tax controversies, according to GT.
