Williams-Keeper Partner Dies at Age 63

Stephen B. Smith, partner of Williams-Keepers, died Saturday, August 1 of a heart attack. Smith was 63.

In a statement, Smith’s wife, Bea said she also heartened by news from doctors that because of her husband’s status as an organ and tissue donor, his body could help as many as 24 other people.

Smith was a nationally recognized expert in lost profits, employment damages and business valuation. “He loved the arena of the courtroom, being on the stand — he loved to be challenged,” said Harry Otto, a colleague and friend of 35 years who works in the Williams-Keepers Jefferson City office. “In the hot seat, he really excelled.”

Smith joined the Columbia, Mo-based Williams-Keepers in 1974 and became a partner-owner in 1976.
