Plante & Moran Lays off 80 Staff

Southfield, Mich.-based Plante & Moran (FY08 net revenue of $286 million) laid off 80 of it’s staff.

MP Bill Hermann confirmed the firm let close to 80 employees go in mid May. Two thirds of the layoffs were in Michigan.

According to Crain’s Detroit Business, Hermann says “The firm’s in great shape. We want to keep it that way and, frankly, that’s why we did this. For the 1,600 people still here, we needed to make sure we remain strong. The layoffs were in all offices, in all job descriptions, in support staff as well as the practice staff,” he says.
